IKEA Frisco Grand Opening
Serenity Now
In August, 2006, we were "blessed" with the arrival of our own local IKEA. Yes, IKEA opened a store in Frisco, just miles from our house. While the closest IKEA to Jennie's parents is over an hour away, we can now drive to the home furnishing store in less than 15 minutes. It's like having a piece of Sweden in North Texas.
Of course, this wasn't our first IKEA Grand Opening. We had the honor of attending the Houston IKEA Re-Grand Opening after they built a new and improved store. We didn't mean to attend the opening, but halfway to Houston on a random Wednesday, we looked at each other and said "isn't today the grand opening of the new store? Oh sh*t." Serenity now. Luckily, the opening was a bit subdued since there had been an IKEA in Houston for years. Jerry's blood pressure stayed within acceptable limits. He wasn't so lucky on the day of the Frisco Grand Opening (see pictures of chaos below). Wish you were here, Olle!
The picture to the left shows Jennie taking her first steps into the new IKEA. Since then, she's been there at least once a week, purchasing Swedish food for us to enjoy at home, like Delicato Bollar, Marabou chocolate and lingonberries.
